Neveda/California 4th of July trip: Part II

This was moving day between Ely and Reno.  They call Highway 50 through here “The Loneliest Road in America”.  That’s no joke, and although the label was intended to be somewhat negative, the state has embraced the moniker.

Time for my big 4th of July trip.  Despite the 900+ peaks I’ve climbed in the Four Corners states, I had never hiked in California, nor hiked in any of the major ranges of Nevada.
